Good evening, everyone,

First, I want to thank the CHP for this incredible honor. Receiving the Community Service Award, the “Superstar,” is truly humbling—and this beautiful gala made it all the more special.

To all the nominees, I see you. We are in this together. We each bring our own light to the community—whether through programs, activities, or events—and together, we create the kind of memories that last. I was especially touched by Ms. Foster’s reflection on her childhood and the library. Those are the moments I strive for—the ones that leave a mark, that stay with people for a lifetime.

This award is a reminder—not just of what’s been done, but of the work still ahead. As I spoke with many of you tonight and we shared our hopes and concerns, one truth stood out: we must work together.

To the Pembroke School Board—my commitment is and always will be to our children and their education. To the Village of Hopkins Park—serving as a trustee gives me the privilege to help build a stronger, more united community. And to the Ladies of Pembroke Book Club—you already know. Together, we serve. Together, we celebrate. Together, we rise.

Let me leave you with this: If there is a need, then you must do—not just talk. That’s the real work. That’s community.

Much love, Tonia

Recently, I had the honor of spending time in Atlanta, Georgia, and the experience was nothing short of powerful. I met visionaries, creators, artists, and leaders, all rooted in purpose and passion. Let me share a little of what moved me…

A Moment With Bernice King
A Moment With Bernice King

The trip began with the unforgettable opportunity to hear Bernice King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., speak to a captivated audience. Her presence was commanding, her words unforgettable. But what truly blessed me was the chance to sit with her one-on-one. She was real. Grounded. Unapologetically herself. That conversation will stay with me forever.

Wisdom from Laila Ali
Wisdom from Laila Ali

I also had the chance to listen to Laila Ali, champion athlete and daughter of Muhammad Ali. She spoke directly to parents, encouraging us to support our children — even when their dreams aren't ours. That message was real and needed.

Rooted in Pembroke: A Conversation with 5 time Grammy award winner MilTicket

One of the biggest highlights? Sitting down with MIL Ticket, a five-time Grammy Award-winning artist — and yes, his roots are in Pembroke. Talking with him about his journey from where he began to where he is now was humbling. He’s talented, accomplished, and still grounded in his beginnings.

During my visit, I toured Encore Studios, where I got a behind-the-scenes look at how movies and media content are made. I met Kirbey Mosley, a Tubi actress and director, along with artists like J. Ward and No Name Yo, an up-and-coming star with real potential. And yes — I even had a little fun on camera with a quick shout-out video!

Suite Food Lounge — A Vibe and a Half

Last but not least, if you ever find yourself in Atlanta, you must visit Suite Food Lounge. The food was fabulous, the drinks were on point, and our server Rakeem gave top-notch service. Five stars, hands down!

Final Thoughts

This wasn’t just a trip — it was an experience of connection, creativity, and purpose. From Pembroke to Atlanta, we are out here doing big things. And I'm reminded that no matter where you’re from, your voice matters, your story matters, and your journey is valid.

Keep pushing. Keep believing.

Do You Hear Me?

Much Luv,

Tonia
